Greetings,

This week it struck me. We were speaking with someone who has completed the Diabetic Health Clinic Lifestyle Program and to our surprise they mentioned that they had snuck in a bit of food which was processed. Apparently the circumstances were such that it was to hard to do anything else.

When I hear of things like this it fascinates me as to why people do what they do.  Another common occurrence is that often people tell us that it is not possible to eat unprocessed foods when traveling.  Then there are the times when you may be faced with a situation where you have been invited somewhere and then there is no choice, or is there?

There are very few things that we have total control of. We live in a society where we have less and less control over the things that we do or not do, however we do have total control over what we put in our mouth. Nobody can tell you what you will put in or you won’t put in. The choice is yours. If only we could wave a magic wand and make the health damaging processed foods go away it would make all the difference to many people. The issue is we can’t because there is no magic wand. 

There are many others, including researchers and doctors right across the globe that understand what the issue is. The simple reality is that the food industry has been modifying our foods to the point where they are damaging health. Even developing countries have not been able to escape this abuse. Our consumption of processed sugars is sky high and these in particular are very health damaging.  Because this issue is becoming understood by researchers and medical experts there is more and more educational material available on this subject. This week we came across a short film, 4 minutes and 35 seconds to be exact. As short as this film is, it is very powerful as it explains the whole problem so well. Even the addictiveness of sugar is explained.

The question now is what should one do with a film like this? This week we are encouraging you to pass on the link to this film to all of your family, friends and even acquaintances. It is often said that food can be the best medicine or the slowest of poisons and the people around you deserve to know this basic but incredibly important information.
