Diabetic Health Clinic Newsletter – 10/2/2014

Greetings,

This week has been a week which has been a long time coming, 20 years in the making to be exact. I often wonder why it is that the regulatory bodies don’t have the foot on the accelerator when it comes to making it very clear to the public as to which foods are damaging to our health. On the other hand the food industry has gone off on a tangent processing foods in a way that ensures tens of thousands of people end up with diseases like type 2 diabetes, which by the way is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to so called chronic diseases. Chronic diseases is just the medical term for lifestyle diseases.

There is now irrefutable data to show that processed foods are the major cause of these diseases. So why the hold up? I would, like many other people think that telling the truth about these foods would be the appropriate course of action. The reality is that there are commercial interests which get in the way. This week however, the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) which is based in the US, are for the first time in the last 20 years talking about changing the food labels.  Here is the change:

Eliminate the calories on food labels that are derived from fats!

 The question is why?

For decades we have been told that fat is the villain. The reality is that making this change to the food labels will  be an admission that a calorie is not a calorie. The saying that a calorie is a calorie has been promoted by the food industry for decades.  This thinking has allowed the food industry to remove fat from foods which in turn means that when this process happens the food tastes like cardboard. To make the taste come back the food is loaded up with sugar or simple carbs which is sugar after ingestion. This methodology has allowed the food industry to pack the supermarket fat free foods with processed sugar.

If this change goes ahead it will equate to the admission that the public has simply been misled!

If you want to learn more about what this means, check out the breaking news item, the movie and the info graphic that we added this week to our web site.

There is now no doubt that to stay healthy, or if you have diabetes to go into a diabetic remission, a return to a whole foods, unmodified plant strong diet is a must. The Diabetic Health Clinic Lifestyle Program will help you make this change.
