Medicine or natural therapies? Which one is better?

Greetings,

Help made from PillsThe debate rages on, all while there are so many people who are ill yelling out for help! There are people who only beleive in the pills that doctors prescribe and then there are those who beleive that the pills are poisons and only natural therapies shoud be used and then there are others who are confused. The question is what is the truth?

There is no doubt that we have a culture where we have a pill for an ill, that is what we are used to, but is it necassarily bad? Then there are so many different approaches to natural therpaies, many of them untested promising amazing results that there is no wonder that researchers and doctors are often dismisive of these therapies.

To answer this question lets drill into this question a bit deeper. On both sides of the equation there are people who have had successes and then there are those who have had failures and on both sides of the equation there is no doubt that therea are real effects and then there are the placebo effects which can actaully be very significant. What we need to work out is what is the correct course of action. Let us have a look at a typical modern dsy lifestyle disease, diabetes.

Lets say a person presents to an emergency departement and they have sugars that are toatlly out of control with highs of 30+. At that very point there is no way that eating an apple will solve the problem. It is most probable that the very best way to deal with the problem at that very point in time is a shot of insulin. It will bring that high number under control. Modifying long term eating habbits, in other words excluding all factory made foods and eating only natural foods will most likely ensure that insulin will not need to be used.  The problem with our current culture is that we eat a hamburger and then take a metformin to keep the blood sugars low. Would it not make sense to put the hamburger aside?

Just this week the world was told that for the first time researchers were have been able to grow isnulin secreting, pancreatic beta cells from human skin cells. Now that is a developement which is a game changer. It is possible that for type 1 diabetics a transplant of these cells may resolve thier issues and that would be fantastic, for type 2 diabetics where their pancreas has been compromised it would be a life saver.

Here is the equation: Get the pancreas fixed and then clean up the lifestyle by excluding all the liferstyle choices which caused the problem in the first place, therefere exclude all factory made foods and a type 2 diabetic with end stage disease would be totally healthy! Now that is progress and that is traditional medicine working along side of natural therapies.

The reality is it is unlickely that there will ever be a pill or medicine to reverse the effects of damaging foods so it is up to each person to ensure that they lead a healthy lifestyle. The question is in today’s society how on earth do you do you achive such a change?
