Lack of Sleep Increases The Risk Of Type 2 Diabetes.

It is a well known fact that the onset of type 2 diabetes is today attributed the the consumption of highly processed foods and the lack of physical activity.

Study Suggests that Insufficient Sleep Raises The Risk Of Type 2 Diabetes

According to a study completed in 2007 it has been shown that an aspect of our modern day lives that is also sadly lacking and that is, an appropriate amount of sleep may also be contributing to the diabetes epidemic.

8992 subjects ranging in age from 32 to 86 years participated in this study.

The results show that the participants who reported sleeping 5 or less hours per night or 9 or more hours had a higher incidence of type 2 diabetes than participants who reported sleep 7 hours.

It is widely believed that the appropriate amount of sleep time for an adult should be between 7 – 8 hours per night.
