Diabetic Health Clinic Newsletter – 20/4/2015

Greetings ,

Today we want to have a look at why so many people see natural foods as boring. How can this be? How can foods which are natural and grown for many people be a second best?smith_chicken_crisps

To understand this issue let us for a moment have a look at how children are typically fed and why it is so difficult to get them to eat the things that as parents we know are healthy for them. Take for example flavoured chips, lets take some chicken flavoured chips. When you eat this type of factory made food it is flavoured with chemicals, often msg which by the way causes obesity. The flavours that are created in the labs are flavours which are extremely intense. These are flavours that are so satisfying that is is actually very difficult to stop at a handful. Usually the whole pack disappears very quickly.

As much as these chemical flavourings can be quite enjoyable they do create another issue. These are flavours that are engineered to be much more intense than flavours that you will find in a vegetable or a fruit. Now back to our child that won’t have any talk of eating vegetables. If a child has some chicken flavoured chips, or some bbq shapes are you surprised that the vegetables in comparison have a bland taste?

Here is the moment of truth for today. The food industry makes foods which totally warp your sense of taste. Because we become accustomed to these super intense flavours, the things that are so good for us in comparison to the intense factory made tastes become tasteless. So what is one meant to do? What if you were to enjoy the tastes of the healthy foods to the point where they were even more flavoursome than the chemical copies? There is a way and to get to that point and it really requires a reset of the taste buds. If you would like to experience tastes like you never have before then why not join our next lifestyle change program. It starts on the 20th of May and being a telephone/conference call program you can attend from wherever you are. Don’t miss out! This is your chance to become a true foodie!
