Queensland authorities are warning that this Christmas around 1000 Queenslanders will develop type 2 diabetes.

On average a Queenslander will add 1.5 kg to their body weight over holiday period. To shed 1.5 kg of additional body weight requires a huge amount of physical activity which most people will just not do.

To understand exactly where this additional weight comes from, one must look at the increased consumption of processed sugars. The oversupply of sugars is then stored by the body as energy for future use in the form of fat.

Over indulgence in a safe manner is possible!

It means consuming, whole as grown dishes with no processed ingredients. When foods of this nature are consumed the body is able to process “real foods”. Processed foods contain amounts of sugars which are simply not found in whole foods.

There are many whole foods dishes available which are absolutely divine. The question has to be that if you are going to over indulge why would you do it with processed foods?

For people at risk of developing type two Diabetes the high consumption or over indulgence of processed sugars may just be the finger that pulls the trigger by breaking the metabolic system to a point where the body is unable to utilise insulin to remove sugar from the blood stream.

The Diabetic Health Clinic wishes everyone a Very Merry Christmas with much eating and drinking but in a way that is diabetic safe.

Choose to eat as grown whole food dishes.
