insulin-injection

Australian researches have made a new exciting discovery which could be the answer to the prayers of patients that are required to inject insulin.

Scientist now have a clear understanding of how the body handles insulin. This understanding could lead to much more effective treatments. The hope is that this may mean the end of insulin injections.

Until now it has been a mystery as to the mechanism that allows the cells take in sugar.

Because of the discovery there is now a understanding how molecules of insulin bind to a protein on the cells of the body.

Nobody until now has understood how this works. Making insulin without this missing knowledge means that guesswork has been the norm.

This new discovery will allow the development of much more effective types of insulin.

The Australian ABC put together a report including a video interview with lead researcher Professor Mike Lawrence who explains this discovery. It can be found by using this link.
