Hi my name is Jacinda, I am 43. I was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 16. went onto pills at 22 and insulin at 38 From the age of 38 to 42 I struggled to get anywhere near normal sugar levels. For the 6 months before I started this program my sugars at the start of the day were between 15 and 25. At the end of the day they were between 25 and 35.

At this time I was on Janument twice a day 50 / 1000, Metformin 2 x 1000 once a day, Byetta 10 mg twice a day, Levemir 250 units twice a day, Nova rapid 250 units 3 times a day. I was on 41 pills in total per day., a variety of insulin and 8 pain pills for all the medical problems I had. As you can see the insulin was not reducing my sugar levels. The diabetes specialists said that they had no further help for me. I was advised to just keep injecting more insulin. I was also eating what the diabetes educators advised me to eat. I was getting nowhere, as a matter of fact I was going backwards.

I already had auto-immune problems, two stents and heart problems, peripheral neuropathy from my toes up to my knees and fingers down to my wrists, severe nerve pain, joint and muscle pain. I found it very hard to move and was only keeping up with the basic house work, anything else would totally wipe me out. On top of all these issues there was the sleep apnea.

As far as the program goes it was a bit scary at first. I had no idea what was ahead.. We first learnt what was happening in my body and how the medical professionals were treating me the best way that they could with the variety of medications that I was on. I was not given any choice, this was upsetting.

When the program commenced I was frustrated that we were not making lifestyle changes straight away, however I now understand that there was much that I needed to learn before we could embark on a successful juicing regime. I am so glad I stuck to preparing myself as when I did have weak moments I could reason out what was happening and go back to my plan for what I was going to do in this situation. I actually carried out my plan. It made things much easier.

My Poem

The weeks moved quickly,

The plans were laid,

the juice was made,

the first day was over,

the second,

and third,

and on the seventh I was spurred.

Sugars going down and weight dropping fast, then no memory of bad food,

at last a freeing of mind, spirit and body and all while sugars still dropping.

Third day of third week, boy did I hit the wall, pizza was all that I could think,

for pizza had been a pain in my side since the first day of juicing I had tried.

I stuck to my guns,

I pulled up my socks,

I called in the reinforcements,

I thought out of the box,

I paced back and forward telling myself what I did deserve,

Yes it took a whole day and I did not break.

Not one little crumb did I take.

That was the test, the power of my will.

I have no illusions make no mistake more tests there will be but I know I won’t break.

As I have been on diets three quarters of my life (my first when I was 11) I found that I had no self control. I was hungry all the time! I can’t remember when I did no cupboard crawl.

My mum always provided healthy food. We didn’t have much in the way of treats but it did not matter how much I ate I was always hungry.

During the Diabetic Health Clinic Lifestyle Program I have not been hungry once. I actually have to make myself eat. The cupboard crawl is no more. Now that I am back to eating solid food there is still a lack of hunger and still no cupboard crawling. I now have the self control I always wanted. Today I can walk into a shop and walk right past the so called goodies with absolutely no desire to eat them. I remember them but could not tell you how they taste.

I am now fitting into clothes I could not fit into for the last 8 years. My sugar levels are normal and it is only getting better from here. I am no longer on insulin and my blood pressure pills have been halved. I have also gone off some of my pain medications. My neuropathy is much better so I have been able to get off those medications as well.

Before the lifestyle change every day I was on 41 pills plus three different insulins and 8 pain pills.

Today I am on 17 pills, no insulin and 4 pain pills.

Felling much better inside. Looking much better outside. Family and friends just say “wow!”. They cannot believe the change in my energy, body, spirit and mind. They are all so thrilled for me.

Kind Regards,

Jacinta.
