AstraZeneca, the company that manufactures a new breed of drug for type two Diabetes has had their new drug “Xigduo” approved for use in the European Union.
It is the first time that the new type of drug known as SGLT2 has been combined with metformin into a single tablet.
Invokana a drug based purely on the SGLT2 inhibitor was approved for use in Australia on the 1st of December 2013.
