New figures that have just been released show that a huge 7 out of 10 pacific Islanders living in NZ are now classed as obese.

More than 1.1 million people living in NZ are now obese.  This is placing a huge strain on the countries healthcare system.

The most common reason for kidney failure is type 2 diabetes.  Poor diet, which a diet based on processed food or high energy, low nutrition food is a known cause of type 2 diabetes.

The situation is so dire in NZ that the

dialysis units are finding it difficult to cope.

Obesity is known to increase the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.

Researchers are now pushing the alarm button. The situation is out of control to the point where pulling it back now is a very hard task.
